Indian Government Drives Digital Transformation Through Innovative DPI

The Indian Government’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), including Aadhaar and UPI, has significantly reduced the digital divide and spurred growth. By integrating effective regulation directly into technology, this approach has transformed digital transactions, evidenced by UPI’s growth from one million transactions in 2016 to ten billion in 2023.

To sustain this success, regulation must evolve in tandem with technological advancements, embedding regulatory measures into digital frameworks to ensure scalability and stakeholder engagement. This model sets a precedent for global digital regulatory practices.
