Oman’s Wages Protection System Update

Oman’s Ministry of Labour’s Wages Protection System (WPS) has issued warnings to 57,398 private firms for non-compliance in its first year. Launched on July 9, 2023, the WPS regulates salary transfers in the private sector to ensure timely payments. Over 57,000 companies have registered but not yet utilized the system.

Warnings were issued across various business sizes: 66 large, 536 medium, 10,659 small, and 46,137 micro-businesses. The ministry has set compliance deadlines with penalties for non-compliance, including labor permit suspensions and fines.
