Pakistan’s Government Streamlines Ministries

The Pakistan Government’s Senate Committee on Devolution has recommended the abolition of the Ministries of Industries and Production, and Energy (petroleum division), urging their responsibilities be shifted to provincial authorities. Concerns were raised over the hiring of employees in closed sectors and the creation of numerous new companies without clear oversight.

The government aims to streamline operations by utilizing digital resources to monitor and evaluate the implications of devolving these ministries. The committee also addressed issues related to subsidies, privatisation, and the need for improved management of national resources.
