The Thai government has launched a digital wallet scheme allowing citizens to register for a 10,000 THB (approximately 282 USD) handout starting August 1. This initiative is managed through the government app “Thang Rat” for smartphone users, while non-smartphone users can register in a subsequent phase from mid-September.
The government, in collaboration with the Digital Economy and Society Ministry and other agencies, has established 5,199 service points nationwide to assist with the registration process. This digital scheme demonstrates the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance public services and financial inclusion.
