Thailand Digital Wallet Scheme

The Thailand Government’s digital wallet handout scheme saw 36 million registrations, falling short of the 45 million target. As a result, the government saved 100 billion baht in the project’s budget. The digital wallet aimed to benefit citizens with specific eligibility criteria, but registration numbers were lower than expected.

The Thailand Government prioritized distributing funds to vulnerable groups, including welfare and disability cardholders, using technological methods to streamline the process. Despite the lower turnout, the government plans further phases for distribution, ensuring funds reach those eligible through digital systems.
