U.S. Government Cyber Framework

Identity Digital has called on the U.S. government to allow domain name registries and registrars to report cybersecurity incidents directly to ICANN rather than through government channels. The company suggests that ICANN, with its global expertise, can better manage cyber incident reporting in the domain industry, ensuring standardized processes tailored to DNS-specific threats.

The U.S. government’s cybersecurity regulations, like recent reporting requirements, risk fragmenting the internet. Identity Digital urges for an ICANN-led approach to maintaining a unified and interoperable internet, aligned with the multistakeholder governance model.
