Underwater Infrastructure Activity

NATO and fourteen of its member countries, along with Sweden, have conducted a series of exercises off the coast of Portugal to test new sea drones equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. These drones have the ability to detect suspicious activity near underwater infrastructure and send real-time signals to deter potential threats. 

A significant portion of the world’s oil and gas is transported via pipelines deep below the surface of the sea. Monitoring these critical infrastructures for potential threats has proven to be a challenging task.
