Trade between Azerbaijan and China has defied the global economic downturn, exceeding $3 billion in 2024. This marks a 17.1% year-on-year increase, with the annual trade volume expected to reach a record high by the end of the year. The growth is driven by accelerating cooperation in areas like green energy, digital economy, and industrial production. The share of electromechanical products in trade is also on the rise.
Flights between Baku, Beijing, and Urumqi now operate five times a week, with plans to facilitate Azerbaijani tourist travel to China underway. China has also introduced a one-year visa-free regime for its citizens, leading to a significant increase in Chinese tourism to Azerbaijan. This increased cooperation is set to further boost trade and economic ties between the two nations.
