The Swedish government has spearheaded the development of the world’s first fully-fledged flying boat, an innovative electric ferry designed to hover above water. This cutting-edge vessel, with a capacity for 30 passengers, utilizes advanced wing technology to lift out of the water, reducing energy consumption by up to 80% compared to traditional boats.
The ferry, which can reach speeds of 55 km/h, will commence operations as a part of Sweden’s digital and sustainable transport initiatives starting in October. This project highlights the government’s role in promoting digital advancements and energy-efficient technologies in maritime transport.
