The UK Government is leading a transition from analog copper telephone lines to a fully digital network, with a deadline set for 2027. This shift impacts critical systems such as lifts, alarms, and cash machines that currently use the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The Government Property Agency (GPA) is managing this change by working with IT supplier M4 Digital to identify and replace PSTN-dependent systems with digital alternatives.
This digital transition aims to ensure business continuity and minimize disruptions. The GPA is systematically assessing and upgrading legacy systems to maintain essential services in UK buildings, supporting a seamless shift to a more reliable and modern digital infrastructure.
